The impact of the global credit crisis on the shipping industry is substantially reducing ship values and thereby increasing the proportion of Salvage and GA costs allocated to cargo insurers. We anticipate that this will continue for at least the next 18 months.
Contributions towards Salvage services are calculated pro rata to salved values. Similarly, contributions towards General Average loss are calculated pro rata to sound arrived values at the port(s) of destination. Over the last two decades, cargo values have (on average) steadily increased and therefore Cargo Insurers are bearing an increasing share of these expenses.

A. Duty of the Insured / Consignee / Its Agent or Representative
In case of any loss or damage to the cargo, it is a duty of the Insured / Consignee / Its Agent or Representative to take following procedures
1. Do no give clear receipt on the delivery order but to give such notice of loss or damage
2. In case of containerised cargo:
- Check carefully condition of the containers if it was damaged or holed.
- Check carefully condition of its seal if numbers is matched with the document or if it was damaged or cut.
- If it was found damage, Give such notice of loss or damage on the delivery order.

A. Kewajiban Tertanggung / Penerima Barang / Agen atau Pihak yang mewakilinya.
Dalam hal terjadi klaim kerusakan dan atau kehilangan barang, adalah Kewajiban Tertanggung / Penerima Barang / Agen atau Pihak yang mewakilinya untuk melakukan hal-hal sbb:
1. Jangan menandatangani “Surat Tanda Terima Barang / Surat Jalan / Delivery Order” kecuali dengan memberikan catatan mengenai kerusakan dan atau kehilangan barang tersebut.
