MR 631 – Failure of Public Power Supply

It is agreed and understood that otherwise subject to the terms, exclusions, provisions and conditions contained in the Policy or endorsed thereon, and subject to the Insured having paid the agreed extra premium, the Insurers will indemnify the Insured for any deterioration or putrefaction occurring as a result of any failure of the public power supply, provided that

  • electricity is fed from an interconnected public power supply network (grid or ring system);
  • the delivery point of electricity (ie the point from which the transmission and handling of the electricity becomes the responsibility of the Insured) is specified in the Policy;.
  • the failure of the public power supply lasts for an uninterrupted period of at least six hours.

 If the public power supply is effected via a single feeder, a standby generator ready for operation at any time (stated in the Schedule of the Policy) shall be available which is able to guarantee the required continuous cooling capacity when the cold store is 100 % filled.

Irrespective of any contributing causes, the Insurers shall, however, not be liable for deterioration or putrefaction occurring as a result of

  • scheduled interruptions of the public power supply;
  • interruption of electricity due to shortage of primary energy at the power stations.
